Artist's Description

Realistic acrylic painting of Asterix with Obelix and Idefix together with cartoonist Albert Uderzo and writer René Goscinny, painted by the Dutch fine artist Paul Meijering - the original painting measures 120 x 90 cm

Asterix is a character from the comic book series of the same name by French writer René Goscinny and cartoonist Albert Uderzo. He has the lead role in this series.

Asterix is the main protagonist of the series. He is a petite figure with blond hair and a blond moustache. Despite his short height, he is very smart and brave. He lives in a fictional Gaulish village in Armorica (Brittany) that was the only village in all of Gaul to resist the Romans.
Asterix is a bachelor and the best friend of the menhir hacker Obelix. Asterix was born on the same day as Obelix. He is known in his village as one of the smartest, bravest and most honourable among the inhabitants. Consequently, he is often assigned the dangerous and exotic missions.

Paul then left the academy to work for a living, but at the back of his mind there always loomed the passion of his life: to paint. At his spare time...
