Description
Realistic acrylic painting of Vito Campanella with his Gulliver painting, all painted by the Dutch fine artist Paul Meijering - the original painting is 90 x 120 cm and part of a permanent collection.
Vito Campanella (1932-2014) was an Argentine painter of Italian descent, born in Monopoli, Bari, Italy.
Before settling in Buenos Aires in 1955, Campanella studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Brera in Milan and in cultural centres of important European artists.
After more than 50 years dedicated to painting, Vito Campanella is a universal artist, a renowned painter called Master by the prestigious Swiss dictionary "Art Leaders of the World".
Although Vito Campanella began painting at the age of 14 in his hometown of Monopoli, his love for fine art began much earlier.
Born in 1932, he endured the grief, agony and deprivation surrounding World War II. In the aftermath of the armed conflict, daily life in southern Italy changed forever. Allied planes criss-crossing the skies and incessant bombing left indelible memories that he later translated into works of art.
As a child, Campanella attended both primary and art school, where his painting talent blossomed and matured. His early vocation soon turned into a healthy career.
Campanella has had numerous solo and group exhibitions and his works are displayed in major museums and private collections such as: Athens Museum of Fine Arts, Florence's Galleria degli Uffizi, Tel Aviv Museum of Modern Art, Johannesburg Museum of Modern Art.
Vito Campanella was born in Italy in 1932 and died in 2014.
An older man with grey hair appears content, holding paintbrushes, with a surreal dismembered floating figure in the background. He is wearing a red cardigan and a friendly expression, while the figure behind him echoes a classical statue, seemingly deconstructed and floating against an abstract landscape.
