Description
Realistic painting in acrylic by the Romanian painter Arthur Garguromin Verona, painted by the artist Paul Meijering - The original painting is 90 x 90 cm.
Arthur Garguromin Verona, (Brăila, August 24, 1867 - Bucharest, March 26, 1946) was a Romanian painter of Aropean descent.
In the world of Romanian art, the resonance of the name Verona is complex, suggesting both the vocation for painting of the three outstanding members of this family: Arthur Verona, Nicolae Henri Verona and Paul Verona, and the love for the history and beauties of the Romanian earth.
The Verona family was ennobled in 1478, an age reported in the city of Scutari in Albania, ruled by the Venetians. The noble title was won by the sword because of the courage with which some of its members were distinguished within the Venetian army of Verona. The two brothers, Nicolae Henri and Arthur Verona, were born in Braila, where their mother, Countess Amalia di Lucovich, born in Prcanj, Cattaro, sister of the famous Count Antonio di Lucovich, settled in Cardiff, UK, descendants of Triffone di Lucovich, admiral of the fleet in 1652, had settled. The father of the Verona brothers, Francesco Spiridon Verona, descendant of the Verona family, was also a captain of a civilian navy and shipowner, came from the Gulf of Cattaro, located on the coast of Dalmatia, today Kotor, Montenegro, charged by the Prince of Muntenia, Gheorghe Bibescu, with the organization of a commercial fleet and a house of grain trade in Braila, place where they settled when they came to Romania.
