Description
Realistic acrylic painting of the English painter Paul Corfield, painted by the Dutch fine artist Paul Meijering - the original painting is 90 x 120 cm
Paul Corfield was born in Bournemouth in 1970 and he has lived within 10 miles of his hometown all his life. After leaving school, he was offered a place at art college, but eventually turned it down and opted instead for a career in the aerospace industry. For the next 13 years, he painted only in the evenings or at weekends, but he became a highly skilled airbrush artist.
Years later, in 2002, Paul was offered the chance of a voluntary resignation, for which he put his name forward. Against the advice of many of his friends and family, Paul decided to pursue his passion for the arts and started painting full-time, painting photorealism for a while before switching to hyperrealism, which he continues to develop in his spare time.
For his hyperrealism work, painting ideas are first created using 3D computer modelling software before he recreates them in oil paint. For landscape work, he no longer uses computer software; the ideas are all first built up as pencil sketches from his imagination.
In the past, Paul's ideas and inspiration were drawn from his own childhood. Now that his own children are teenagers, he has found that his influences have changed over time. He says: "I have now had many years to grow into this style in which I paint and I find that the ideas flow completely freely from within."
